Medium Roast - Kenya Microlot — Gicherori, Embu

Gicherori factory sits in the Manyatta Division of Embu, Kenya, opened in 1997 and run by the Kibugu Farmers Cooperative Society — about 1,050 smallholder members who deliver their cherry to the wet mill the same day it's picked. CMS (Coffee Management Services) works alongside the co-op, running Good Agricultural Practices seminars and handing out sustainable-farming handbooks, the kind of groundwork that shows up two harvests later as better cups.

This washed microlot — a mix of Batian, SL28, SL34, and Ruiru 11 grown at 1550 meters — pours with cacao, brown sugar, and sugar cane juice up front, then opens into sparkling acidity and a clean, fruit-like sweetness. Classic Kenya brightness, the kind that makes you sit up a little straighter.
